Unfortunately, anyone faced with a criminal charge under a federal statute must be prepared for the possibility of going to federal prison. Perhaps the first question that comes to mind is, “How much time will I serve?” While federal statutes can determine much of that question (i.e. 10 year maximums), the United States Sentencing Guidelines can give a more precise answer, providing a potential range of time to serve.
However, calculating potential time ranges can be a daunting process, because it takes in a wide range of factors. Thankfully, we have discovered a website that is fairly accurate in assessing what a potential sentence may be. Again, this should not be seen as a guaranteed range, but more of a yardstick to determine likely sentencing.
